Vitaly Naumkin is president of the Institute of Oriental Studies since 2015, and its director between 2009 and 2015. Starting 2016, he held the post of senior political adviser to the UN Special Envoy for Syria. He is also the author of more than 600 publications, including: Radical Islam in Central Asia: Between Pen and Rifle and Red Wolves of Yemen.
